Hottie with a body

June22

There’s a middle-aged woman in my building at work who regularly wears completely inappropriate clothes. Overalls shorts? Slinky, wrinkled shirts? An inch of skin showing above the waist? Yes, please. I like it.

There’s something about the confidence of a woman that’s inspiring. Especially if that woman doesn’t pass the Glamour or People Magazine test for beauty or grace: Wrinkles, bulges, rolls, retro-in-an-unstylish-way and all-around imperfections exist off the air-brushed page and in real life. Let’s embrace them.

An otherwise frumpy woman who tops off her bland outfit with a sequined headband — or bottoms it off with hot pink stilettos — deserves a second look for not holding back. Tell her she’s beautiful! We all have beauty and grace that’s unique to ourselves and ready to bust at our seams … even those days when we feel like we’re about ready to bust out of our pant seams.

After a recent spill on my bike, I checked my body for cuts, bruises and overall evidence that I’m adventurous, heroic and hot in a Catwoman kind of way. What I found were a few scrapes on my thigh … and cellulite. If I had known the risks of bike-riding were toppling onto bushes and cellulite, I might have stuck with a safer sport.

But in light of the woman at work who sports her cellulite like an accessory (with a Tweety bird bracelet), I will also embrace every God-given accessory and scar that makes me me. And I will don shorts like a hot Catwoman. Just probably not at work.
